The largest gain is factual discipline: a clear pilot-wave account need not claim that every quantum-foundations problem is already solved.
V1 is inviting in a way many introductions to quantum foundations are not. It gives the reader particles, a wave, two slits, and a surfing song. It also correctly recognizes that Bohmian mechanics provides a serious account of definite outcomes. That accessibility is worth preserving. The difficulty is that enthusiasm repeatedly outruns the theory being described. “Measurement problem? Gone!” replaces an explanation of the scope and assumptions of the solution, while standard quantum theory is caricatured as magical collapse on one side and perfectly relativistic on the other.
The field-theory claim is the most consequential error. Particle-number jumps and probability flow do not automatically resolve ultraviolet divergences. Bell’s theorem is also stated without its assumptions, and the text conflates nonlocal dependence with an unavoidable rejection of relativity. The surfing metaphor leaves a many-particle wave function sounding like an ordinary local wave in physical space. A reassuring story becomes misleading when it conceals the difficult parts that make the theory interesting.
V1.5 corrects those points within the original sequence. It retains definite positions and the double-slit account, explains that superposition remains, and makes definite apparatus configurations the basis of its measurement discussion. Bell assumptions and no-signalling predictions are separated. Bell-type field theories are distinguished from the separate interior-boundary-condition results in particular models. The recommendations lose an unresolved question mark and an unidentified author, while the original recording remains attached to the original lyrics.
V2 gives the topic a more deliberate architecture: inventory, experiment, measurement, nonlocality, relativity, and field theory. It explicitly says that the prompt requests a stronger divergence claim than the evidence supports. Its most valuable new move is to explain what the metaphor fails to convey: combined configuration space and the difference between a trajectory in a theory and an undisturbed route available to a camera. Its original lyric signals that the “ocean” is not literally ocean water.
There is a real cost. V2 contains many qualifications and source links, and a reader encountering quantum theory for the first time may lose the simplicity that drew them in. It also remains largely an exposition from a Bohmian perspective. The alternatives are named and treated respectfully, but collapse and many-worlds theories do not receive comparably developed defenses. No equations are worked through, so the claim to a precise story ultimately asks readers to follow the references.
V2 is the strongest introduction of the three for a reader willing to investigate further; v1.5 is the necessary minimum correction for retaining the original. V1 remains the most buoyant but cannot be recommended as a reliable explanation without the corrections. The verdict rests on specific scientific claims, not on a preference for cautious prose. Neither later version establishes that Bohmian mechanics is uniquely selected by evidence or that all its relativistic field-theory problems are closed.
